Farewell from Dennis and Kevin

As the old saying goes “All good things must come to an end” and so it is with a heavy heart that it is time for Blarney to come to an end as well.  It was a hard decision for us to make in many ways as the band has become so much a part of our lives.  Dennis has been with the band for 36 years, I for 41 years.  Now, four decades later, we have reached a point in our lives where we know the time is right for us to say goodbye.

It is hard to imagine that a band like Blarney, or any band for that matter, could stay performing for close to 42 years (staring in 1975) and while it is easy to say we love to perform, it was our fans that made each performance worthwhile.  The wonderful memories are too numerous to reminisce about in this short statement but we can assure you, your support and friendship will never be forgotten.

Finally, we would like to express to our families our love for them as it was through their support and understanding that we were able to perform as often as we did.  Without their presence in our lives none of this would have been possible.

I will take the liberty to say goodbye on behalf of all those that were once members of the band, Ed Ward, Bernie McCartan, John Maher, John Testin (the “founding” four), Robin Mitchell, Chuck Ward, Dennis Murphy and myself.

How lucky Dennis and I are to have been part of something that has made saying goodbye so hard to do.  God bless all of you.

Kevin Stapleton
