old saying goes “All good things must come to an end” and
so it is with a heavy heart that it is time for Blarney to
come to an end as well.
It was a hard decision for us to make in many ways
as the band has become so much a part of our lives.
Dennis has been with the band for 36 years, I for
41 years. Now,
four decades later, we have reached a point in our lives
where we know the time is right for us to say goodbye.
hard to imagine that a band like Blarney, or any band for
that matter, could stay performing for close to 42 years
(staring in 1975) and while it is easy to say we love to
perform, it was our fans that made each performance
The wonderful memories are too numerous to reminisce about
in this short statement but we can assure you, your
support and friendship will never be forgotten.
Finally, we would like to express to our families our love
for them as it was through their support and understanding
that we were able to perform as often as we did.
Without their presence in our lives none of this
would have been possible.
take the liberty to say goodbye on behalf of all those
that were once members of the band, Ed Ward, Bernie
McCartan, John Maher, John Testin (the “founding” four),
Robin Mitchell, Chuck Ward, Dennis Murphy and myself.
lucky Dennis and I are to have been part of something that
has made saying goodbye so hard to do.
